Event Spotlight - GRAMMY U's Summit @ The Field 4/24/10

GRAMMY U's Summit @ The Field
April 24, 2010, 11:00am-4:30pm
Penn Field, Austin, Texas

I cant stress enough how awesome the Summit is (yes, I am a Student Ambassador for GRAMMY U--no, they didn't asked me to create this post). I have attended the past two years, and it has been a wonderful experience both times, giving me the chance to learn from recognized and respected folks in the biz. The Summit includes a series of workshops (you choose which ones to attend), an internship fair over lunch, and a great deal of networking opportunity. There is also a band showcase after the Workshops have concluded, which you won't want to miss. Here is a list of workshops available:

· The Biz
· Songwriting
· Artist Management
· Working with a Label
· Publishing
· Music in Film & Advertising
· Advanced Recording Techniques
· Booking, Touring, and Promotions

You have to be a GRAMMY U member to attend! You can become a member during Summit registration, or by contacting the Texas Chapter of The Recording Academy.

You can find detailed information about Summit @ The Field at the following links: Facebook, GRAMMY365.

Spectrum Vol. I Artists + Showcase Headliner Contest!

Now that we have revealed all of MTP's schemes and deep dark secrets (muahaha), we can let on a little more info! The following is a list of musical artists that are to appear on Spectrum Vol. I:

Caroline Brown
Companion
Cooper Davidson
Snow Like It's April
Taylor Thrash
The First Hundred Years
The Truth About Moviestars

These artists will be performing at the MTP Spectrum Showcase which is scheduled to happen on Wednesday, April 28, 2010! Mark your calendars and plan to be there!

Amongst all this good news, there is a bit of bad news (sort of).

There is a problem with the concert: all of these guys are so talented that we can't decide who should headline! Soooo we need your help in determining who will headline the Spectrum Showcase! You can vote for which musical artist (that has a full band) will headline by visiting the link below:

http://bit.ly/spectrumvote

Voting is open 3/30/10 @ 12:00pm, and closes 4/1/10 @ 11:59pm. The artist with the most votes by the time the poll closes will secure the headlining spot on the showcase. Share the link! One vote is allowed per person in the poll. PLEASE PLAY FAIR AND VOTE ONLY ONCE!

Announcing: MTP Spectrum Compilation CD & Concert!

After months of meetings, prayer, and hard work, MTP's projects are finally coming together beautifully, like a melody to a harmony. We are very excited about what we've been working on this year!

That being said, we are proud to announce the release of our VERY FIRST compilation CD, Spectrum Vol. I! The CD contains track from 7 (count 'em, 7!) DBU-based musical artists, handpicked by MTP. The CD contains 7 tracks (one from each artist), and features original artwork by DBU student Claire Dunn. A portion of the proceeds from Spectrum Vol. I will be donated to a local missions ministry (yet to be determined), and the rest will help fund future on-campus concerts and other MTP projects.

This brings us to our second announcement: The MTP Spectrum Showcase concert! This concert will be held on the DBU campus at the end of April and will showcase the same talent that you will hear on Spectrum Vol. I! We will also be bringing FREE Coke floats, just like last year! Hurrah!

Details on the release date, artist roster, and availability of Spectrum Vol. I will follow very soon. Also be on the lookout for details on the Spectrum Showcase--you won't want to miss it! :)
